Mrs. Ruehs
Greetings L. Hollingworth Families!
I have been in education for 15 years; this is my second year with L. Hollingworth and my first year teaching 2nd grade. I am excited to be a part of this wonderful community and am eager to get to know all of your students.
I have been married to my best friend for 17 years and we have two wonderful boys. They are 16 and 13 years old; one is in 10th grade and the other is in 8th grade. We also have several cats; they are our other kids. My husband has been an Executive Chef for 20 years...so I eat very well! I graduated from Albion College in Albion, Michigan with my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and English in December 2006.
I was only 14 years old when I became an aunt, and it made a huge impact on my life. I spent a lot of time taking my niece places and playing with her. My time with her was always such a highlight, that I knew that I would spend my life working with children.
I like to have fun and learn in the classroom, and it is that enjoyment and love of learning that I hope to pass on to our students.
Teaching reading has always held a special place in my heart. I was a late bloomer when it came to learning to read, and I think this helps me to understand the struggles students face. I have heard that everyone is a reader, just not everyone has found a book that they enjoy reading. I hope that by the time students leave my classroom, they all have found something they love to read!
The 2nd grade team and I want to help your students to have the best year possible. Please let us know any tips and/or tricks that will help your child succeed. We want what is best for them. I encourage families to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you want to be more involved in any way. I am looking forward to a great school year!
Love,
Mrs. Ruehs
