Welcome to 6th Grade Math and Science

Hello 6th Grade Parents and Guardians,

I look forward to working with your child and I will do everything that I can to help your child have a successful school year. This year we are going to start school remotely on Tuesday, September 8 at 8:00. I would like to invite all students to log into Google Classroom and start with their check-in post. Daily schedule, learning expectations, all lessons, assignments and updates will be posted on Google Classroom on a daily basis. Please make sure that your child logs into Math and Science Google Classrooms daily and completes his/her work. Winter Testing - January 25th and 26th

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you and your family are doing well and staying healthy. I wanted to remind everyone that our 6th graders will be taking math and reading tests next week. We will start with i-Ready math test on Monday, January 25th and the MAP reading test will be on Tuesday, January 26th. Both tests will be taken in the afternoon, right after lunch. Students should bring the following items to school: school issued chromebooks and chargers (if they have them), headphones, math and science notebooks, water bottles, masks, school supplies, and lunch (if they are packing). Also, please encourage your children to work in i-Ready at least 30 minutes every day.

If your child is a remote learner, you should have been notified about the test dates by Mrs. Lay.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me or message on Class Dojo.

Thank you for all you do to help our students with the online learning.

6th Grade Updates

Hello Parents and Guardians,

We have made it through four weeks of school and the 6th grade students are doing a great job of keeping in touch and working on their daily assignments. I just wanted to remind everyone that we have daily google meets at 8:15 with announcements, explanations of assignments for the day and lessons. After the class google meet students are expected to work individually and at the end of the day they should submit their work. I am available in google meet each day after the class meeting till 9:35 and then 10:15 till 11:30. Students are welcome to come with questions or if they need any help. Last week we started our small groups in google meet on Wednesdays and these meetings are mandatory. I would like to ask all families to encourage our 6th graders to have a routine and consistently work on their assignments. It is important that students keep up with their work and do not procrastinate with their work. The daily assignments for math and science are as follows:

      1. Check- in post question

      2. Problem of the day

      3. Math lesson

      4. Exit ticket

      5. i-Ready – 30 minute session each day

      6. Science warm – up

      7. Science lesson

We also have several weekly assignments:

      1. Weekly review

      2. Creating a video using Flipgrid

      3. Khan Academy

      4. Moby Max

Thank you for all you do to support our students in helping them with the online schooling and please know that I could not do it without your help.

Thank you,

Mrs. Walton
